Cycle routes of less than 10 kms
- From Saint-Martin-de-Ré to La Couarde-sur-Mer, this path winds through the vineyards and marshes for around 8 kilometres. All around you’ll marvel at Ile de Ré’s beautiful countryside. On the way back, the path follows the coastline. Take a break to enjoy oysters from one of the oyster sellers along the way.
- If you’d rather take in the scent of pine trees, there’s a route from Portes-en-Ré through the forest which takes you a little further on from Saint-Clément-des-Baleines. Feel like spending some time off the bike? Just hop off and visit the lighthouse.
Tours of Ile de Ré from 10 to 25 kms
- Starting at Rivedoux-Plage, a 13 km path takes you to Saint-Martin-de-Ré via La Flotte. Get lost in Ile de Ré’s history with a visit to Vauban’s fortifications.
- A reward at the end (or halfway through!) A 22 km circuit, starting from La Flotte and finishing in Saint-Martin-de-Ré winds along the coast, revealing Ile de Ré’s culinary delights along the way.
- For the most courageous, other itineraries over 30 kms are also available. These offer a large variety of historical and natural sights throughout the island. If can’t decide between a house close to town or an apartment by the sea, you can be sure that getting on your bike is a great way to get to know the island.
